If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news about a potential Part 3, brace yourself for some disappointing news. Neil Druckmann, the series' creator, has significantly cooled any expectations of a third installment in a recent interview with Variety. The discussion primarily focused on the upcoming *The Last of Us* TV series, but Druckmann addressed the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3* at the end, offering a definitive response:
"I was waiting for this question," he said with a sigh. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."
The validity of Druckmann's statement remains open to interpretation. Currently, Naughty Dog is fully engaged with their new project, *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window announced, it's clear that *Intergalactic* will occupy the studio for several years. This leaves little room for immediate work on *The Last of Us Part 3*. Druckmann might be playing it safe, or perhaps he's genuinely uncertain about committing to another game in the series. Time may alter his stance, or he might indeed be ready to move on from the franchise. It's anyone's guess!
However, if you're still hungry for more *The Last of Us*, the television adaptation offers a promising alternative. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann mentioned uncertainty about the number of seasons needed to cover the story of *Part 2*, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons might be the ideal number to fully explore the narrative.
