Netflix is releasing a retro-futuristic puzzle game, The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, to coincide with the upcoming sci-fi adventure film, The Electric State. Launching March 18th, just days after the film's March 14th Netflix premiere, the game serves as a prequel, exploring the childhoods of key characters Chris and Michelle, played by Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, respectively.
Directed by the Russo brothers, the film features a post-apocalyptic road trip across an alternate 1990s America filled with giant robots. However, The Electric State: Kid Cosmo, developed by BUCK Games (creators of the popular Steam game Let's! Revolution!) and AGBO, offers a unique perspective.
This isn't a simple movie adaptation. Instead, it's a game-within-a-game experience set in 1985 Wichita, Kansas. Over five years, players will solve puzzles reminiscent of the WarioWare series, but with a distinct 80s vibe. The gameplay involves collecting modules, repairing Kid Cosmo's ship, and uncovering the mysteries of this strange world. The journey reveals deeper insights into Chris and Michelle's past, leading up to the events depicted in the film.
The Electric State: Kid Cosmo continues Netflix's trend of expanding its gaming library with interactive spin-offs. Joining titles like Stranger Things: Puzzle Tales, Too Hot to Handle, Money Heist: Ultimate Choice, and Squid Game: Unleashed, this new game adds to their growing collection.
