Netflix Stories Cancelled, Still Playable!

Netflix has officially announced the closure of its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief foray into narrative gaming. This decision might come as a surprise to many, especially considering the solid player base these games had garnered. So, why did Netflix pull the plug on Netflix Stories? Let's dive into the details!

The decision to cancel Netflix Stories was first reported by Variety and aligns with a larger strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The focus is now shifting towards mobile titles that include party games, children's games, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio responsible for the Netflix Stories series, will continue their collaboration with Netflix on other projects, such as the upcoming Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled: What's Next?

Despite facing some criticism, the Netflix Stories games consistently ranked among the top-played titles on the Netflix Games platform. According to recent reports, the series sits at number four in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, which ranks games based on playtime rather than downloads.

Looking at the future of the series, Love Is Blind: NYC will be the last interactive title in the Netflix Stories lineup. Once its rollout concludes, no new games under the Netflix Stories banner will be developed. This announcement follows closely after the Netflix Stories app began teasing its next game, The Love Contract, which was slated for an April 8th release.

Unlike its predecessors, The Love Contract was not based on any existing Netflix intellectual property. It was set to be an original romance story following an actress navigating a complex love triangle with a Hollywood star and a billionaire, wrapped in a tale of fame, scandal, and fake dating. Unfortunately, this project has now been scrapped.

Despite the cancellation, existing Netflix Stories games will remain available for play. Fans can still enjoy titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple. However, planned sequels, including those for Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia, have also been cancelled.

That’s the latest on the Netflix Stories cancellation! If you're a fan of Netflix shows, you might want to check out these games on the Google Play Store.
