Hotta Studios' upcoming open-world RPG, Neverness to Everness, is gearing up for its first closed beta test – but there's a catch. This initial test will be exclusive to mainland China.
While international players won't be participating in the beta, Gematsu's recent coverage offers a glimpse into the game's expanding lore. Fans familiar with the Eibon city trailers (shown below) will likely find the new additions unsurprising. The updates highlight a more comedic story tone and showcase the unique blend of the bizarre and ordinary within the game's Hetherau setting.
Hotta Studios, a subsidiary of Perfect World (creators of the popular Tower of Fantasy), is venturing into a competitive 3D RPG market increasingly focused on urban settings. Neverness to Everness, however, aims to stand out.
One key differentiator? Open-world driving! Players can cruise city streets at high speeds, customizing and purchasing a variety of vehicles. Be warned, though – realistic crash physics add a layer of challenge.
The game faces significant competition upon release. Zenless Zone Zero from miHoYo has set a high bar for mobile 3D open-world RPGs, and NetEase's Ananta (formerly Project Mugen) developed by Naked Rain presents a similar contender.
