Nintendo's Popular Mobile Game, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, is Closing its Doors
You read that right! Nintendo has announced the end of online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, leaving many fans surprised. While the game has enjoyed considerable success, its online servers will officially shut down on November 28th, 2024. This marks a bittersweet end, coming just days after the game's seventh anniversary on November 21st.
The Countdown Begins:
- October 28th, 2024: Auto-renewal for Pocket Camp Club memberships will cease. Existing memberships will not be refunded, but players will receive a commemorative badge.
- November 26th, 2024: The last day to purchase Leaf Tickets.
- November 28th, 2024, 7:00 AM PST: Online services for Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp officially end.
A Silver Lining: Offline Play!
While the online experience is ending, Nintendo plans to release a paid offline version of the game. While features like the Market Box, gifting, and visiting friends' campsites will be absent, the core gameplay will remain. Players will retain their saved progress and enjoy the game without an internet connection. More details on this offline version are expected around October 2024.
A Trend of Mobile Game Closures?
This closure follows a pattern of Nintendo phasing out mobile games, including Dr. Mario World and Dragalia Lost, with Mario Kart Tour also currently in maintenance mode. While unexpected for some, the news isn't entirely shocking given this trend.
If you're a Pocket Camp player, now's the time to enjoy those final moments! Download the game from the Google Play Store and prepare for a nostalgic farewell. Stay tuned for our upcoming article on Netflix's Monument Valley 3.
