Nintendo Switch 2 enthusiasts have recently turned their attention from the console itself to the dimensions of its physical game cases, sparked by a leak from a retailer. As reported by Nintendo Life, journalist Felipe Lima discovered a listing for a Take-Two Interactive game on the French retailer Fnac, which provided the dimensions of a Nintendo Switch 2 game case. If these measurements are accurate, the game boxes for the Nintendo Switch 2 will be slightly larger than those for the original Switch.
This potential size difference was visually represented in a Reddit post by HertzBurst, showcasing a side-by-side comparison of the two box sizes. According to the retailer's listing, the dimensions of the Nintendo Switch 2 game cases are approximately 5.1 inches by 7.7 inches (13 cm by 19.5 cm). These dimensions indicate that the new cases will be larger than the familiar smaller cases of the original Nintendo Switch but still significantly smaller than the standard cases used for Xbox Series X and S and PlayStation 5 games. While not yet officially confirmed, it's logical for retailers to receive product dimensions early to prepare for stock displays and other logistical arrangements.
Speculation about the Nintendo Switch 2's release date is also heating up. Although Nintendo has not announced a specific release window, some industry insiders suggest it could be between June and September. This timeframe aligns with hands-on events scheduled up to June and a statement from Greedfall 2's publisher, Nacon, indicating the console's launch before September.
The Nintendo Switch 2 was unveiled earlier in January with a brief trailer that confirmed features such as backwards compatibility and the inclusion of a second USB-C port. However, many details, including information about other games and the function of the mysterious new Joy-Con button, were not disclosed. Speculation about the new Joy-Con button potentially functioning as a mouse has gained some traction among fans.
