Nintendo has officially confirmed that players can utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen. Since the unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have been buzzing with excitement about the potential applications of the new Joy-Con's mouse functionality. Last month, the tech giant provided official confirmation that the Joy-Con can operate in "mouse mode," allowing players to slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left-click and right-click actions, mimicking a traditional mouse. What's more, users have the flexibility to use two Joy-Con in mouse mode simultaneously—one in each hand—or pair one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode.
Now, further details have emerged, showcased through the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter. It's been revealed that the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2.

Nintendo explains, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown." They further elaborate, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. You can use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." Transitioning back to thumbstick control is as simple as moving the Joy-Con 2 into a horizontal position.
Although the full scope of mouse-compatible games remains undisclosed, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is slated to launch on June 5.
