Nintendo has unveiled a refreshed design for Diddy Kong, following its earlier update to longtime companion Donkey Kong's iconic appearance.
Earlier this year, sharp-eyed fans spotted noticeable adjustments to Donkey Kong's visual presentation across official artwork and previews for Mario Kart World.
The gaming giant has now showcased Diddy Kong's makeover through updated assets on its official website and promotional displays at Las Vegas' ongoing Licensing Expo 2025.
As reported by Nintendo Life, the redesigned Diddy Kong features enhanced cartoonish elements—more rounded eyes and an expressive, welcoming grin.
Expo attendees can view both revamped characters firsthand at the brand licensing event, with social media user Cptn_Alex sharing exclusive snapshots of the new designs.

While Nintendo hasn't officially addressed these character updates, industry observers note striking resemblances to their portrayals in the blockbuster Super Mario Bros. Movie.
This design evolution extends to Princess Peach as well—Eurogamer reported her Showtime! Switch game packaging now mirrors her cinematic counterpart's appearance more closely.
Of course this post is popping off lmao. Here’s a better look at the new render :)

Donkey Kong headlines the upcoming Switch 2 title Donkey Kong Bananza, with Diddy Kong's involvement still unconfirmed—though design refinements and Cranky Kong's inclusion suggest strong possibilities.
The anticipated Super Mario World film sequel will likely feature expanded roles for Nintendo's primate characters, building on their redesigned appearances from both video games and cinema.
