Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Welcomes Four Retro Classics
Beat 'em Ups, Racing, Puzzles, and Dodgeball!
Prepare for a nostalgic gaming experience! Nintendo is adding four Super NES titles from the early 90s to its ever-growing online library. This diverse selection offers thrilling beat 'em up action, intense racing, challenging puzzles, and chaotic dodgeball fun for subscribers.
First up is the iconic crossover, Battletoads/Double Dragon. This action-packed title unites the brawling Battletoads and the martial arts masters, the Double Dragon brothers, in a quest to defeat the Dark Queen and her Shadow Warriors. Players can choose from five characters: Billy and Jimmy Lee (Double Dragon) and Zitz, Pimple, and Rash (Battletoads).
Originally released on NES in June 1993 and later ported to Super NES in December of the same year, Battletoads/Double Dragon's inclusion marks its long-awaited return after decades.
Next, get ready for some dodgeball mayhem with Kunio-kun no Dodgeball da yo Zen’in Shūgō! (known as Super Dodgeball in the West). Featuring Kunio-kun from the River City series, this game challenges players to dominate the dodgeball court against global rivals. Various arenas, from indoor stadiums to outdoor beaches, each present unique obstacles.
Initially released on Super Famicom in August 1993.
Puzzle enthusiasts will appreciate Cosmo Gang the Puzzle, a strategic puzzle game reminiscent of Tetris and Puyo Puyo. Clear lines of containers and Cosmos to score points across three modes:
- 1P Mode (solo high score challenge)
- VS Mode (head-to-head competition)
- 100 Stage Mode (increasingly difficult puzzles)
Line up containers horizontally and utilize descending blue orbs to remove Cosmos.
Originally an arcade title (1992), Cosmo Gang the Puzzle later appeared on Super Famicom (1993) and various other platforms, including recent releases on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
