Recent reports confirm developer People Can Fly has canceled one of its upcoming titles: Outriders 2.
The Polish studio, renowned for Outriders and Gears of War: Judgment, previously warned of further job cuts in early June when it axed two projects—Project Gemini and Project Bifrost.
While CEO Sebastian Wojciechowski’s statement didn’t name the publishers involved, People Can Fly’s website revealed Square Enix partnered on Gemini, while Bifrost was independently developed.
The cancellations triggered internal restructuring, following April’s termination of Project Dagger—an action-adventure game initially co-developed with Take-Two Interactive before its withdrawal in September 2022.
Thumb Wars, citing sources verified by Insider Gaming, alleges Project Gemini was actually Outriders 2. Development reportedly halted mid-production during motion capture sessions.
Square Enix declined IGN’s request for comment. People Can Fly has not responded.
The studio previously downsized operations, laying off 120 employees late last year. Current collaborations include Project Echo with Krafton (PUBG), Project Delta with Sony, and Gears of War: E-Day with Microsoft.
IGN scored Outriders 7/10, praising its "satisfying sci-fi combat and loot systems despite narrative shortcomings." PCF’s latest release is Bulletstorm VR, a refreshed take on the cult shooter for Meta Quest and PSVR 2.
