People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and a co-developer of Gears of War: E-Day, has entered into an exciting new partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment. This collaboration will see the studio working on a new game, currently codenamed Project Delta, under a work-for-hire agreement. While details about Project Delta remain under wraps, the announcement marks another significant project for the busy studio.
The studio is simultaneously juggling multiple projects with intriguing codenames. Alongside Project Delta, they are working on Project Gemini in partnership with Square Enix, which faced a setback with 30 developers being laid off last year. Additionally, People Can Fly is collaborating with Krafton on Project Echo, and has another project, Project Red, also seemingly with Sony. The studio recently announced that Project Bison, a VR project, will be their last venture into virtual reality.
Recent months have seen some adjustments to their project lineup. In December, People Can Fly announced the suspension of work on Project Victoria and a scaling down of Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, they cancelled Project Dagger, an action-adventure game in development with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these changes, People Can Fly remains robust with a total of eight known projects in progress. This includes the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, developed in partnership with The Coalition, though no release date has been set for this title yet. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, their collaboration with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
As People Can Fly continues to expand its portfolio and navigate the dynamic landscape of game development, fans and industry watchers alike will be eager to see how these projects unfold and what innovative experiences the studio brings to gamers worldwide.
