PlayStation Productions at CES 2025: A Wave of Game Adaptations
PlayStation Productions made a splash at CES 2025, announcing several new game adaptations slated for release in 2025 and beyond. The announcements included anime, film, and television projects, showcasing the studio's expanding reach.
New Adaptations Unveiled:
The January 7th, 2025 presentation featured a diverse range of projects:
- Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Anime: A new anime series, a collaboration between Crunchyroll and Aniplex, set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. Takanobu Mizumo will direct, with Gen Urobuchi handling story composition. Sony Music will contribute the music and soundtrack.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 Films: These film adaptations are currently in development, with Sony Pictures producing the Horizon Zero Dawn film and Columbia Pictures handling Helldivers 2. Details remain scarce.

Until Dawn Film: A film adaptation of Until Dawn is set for release on April 25, 2025.

Past Successes and Future Projects:
PlayStation Productions isn't new to game adaptations. While earlier adaptations like Resident Evil and Silent Hill had mixed reception among fans, they were commercially successful. The studio's more recent efforts, including Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), also achieved box office success. The Twisted Metal series, while not as critically acclaimed as The Last of Us, completed production on its second season in late 2024. The release date for season two is yet to be announced.
Beyond the CES 2025 announcements, PlayStation Productions is also working on film adaptations of Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, as well as a God of War television series.
