Author : Hannah May 23,2025

The Pokémon Company has exciting news for fans in North America: the Pokémon Fossil Museum is set to open its doors in Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026. This unique exhibition, which made its debut in Japan, is a fascinating blend of fantasy and science, showcasing fabricated Pokémon "fossils" alongside real-world fossils of ancient lifeforms. This will be the first time the exhibit ventures outside of Japan, offering a unique opportunity for Pokémon enthusiasts and science lovers alike to explore the intriguing connections between these two worlds.

During your visit to the museum, you'll have the chance to see vivid Pokémon models displayed next to the Field Museum's collection of extinct lifeforms. This includes scientific casts of iconic dinosaurs like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx, juxtaposed with Fossil Pokémon such as Tyrantrum and Archeops. The exhibit invites visitors to spot the differences and similarities between these ancient creatures and their Pokémon counterparts, making for an engaging and educational experience.

For those unable to visit either Japan or Chicago, The Pokémon Company and the Toyohashi Museum of Natural History have made it possible to explore the Pokémon Fossil Museum from the comfort of your own home. Pokémon fans can embark on a virtual tour of the exhibit, allowing them to view the impressive collection of both real and Pokémon fossils, ranging from a tyrannosaurus to a Tyrantrum.

In other Pokémon-related news, a man in the UK was recently arrested after police discovered he was in possession of a cache of stolen Pokémon cards valued at £250,000 (approximately $332,500). The discovery was made during a raid on a home in Hyde, Tameside, on the outskirts of Greater Manchester. A police spokesperson humorously noted, "Gotta catch 'em all," in reference to the popular Pokémon slogan.
