Pokémon Company Tackles TCG Shortages, Scalpers Post-Destined Rivals Launch

Author : Isaac May 13,2025

The Pokémon Company has recently taken steps to address the frustrations fans have faced in obtaining the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) sets. In a newly released statement, the company has confirmed plans for reprints and is actively working to ensure that these products reach the fans.

The launch of the Pokémon TCG's latest set, Destined Rivals, was marred by a series of issues including product shortages, challenges with pre-orders, and the influence of scalpers. This set, along with other recent releases like Prismatic Evolutions and the Blooming Waters box, have been in high demand, making them hard to come by.

In a statement on the Pokémon website, The Pokémon Company (TPC) acknowledged that many fans are struggling to purchase certain Pokémon TCG products due to overwhelming demand. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," the statement noted. "Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers soon."

TPC also outlined plans to boost production for upcoming TCG expansions to ensure better availability at launch and to continue reprinting affected products to restock, including at the Pokémon Center.

In response to scalping, The Pokémon Company indirectly addressed the issue by emphasizing their commitment to a seamless purchasing experience at the Pokémon Center. They employ technology, such as a virtual queue during high-traffic periods, to prioritize fans. "We will continue to explore measures that help create the best possible experience for Pokémon Center customers," the company stated. "We’d like to thank the community for their continued support and patience as we work to deliver more Pokémon TCG products to fans."

With these assurances from The Pokémon Company, fans are hopeful that the process of collecting and enjoying the Pokémon TCG will become less stressful with the arrival of new sets.
