Niantic has revealed details for the Pokémon GO Lunar New Year 2025 event, kicking off January 29th and offering players exciting opportunities to catch Lucky Pokémon, Shiny Pokémon, and earn valuable rewards. Similar to the recent Fashion Week event, players can complete Field Research tasks for bonus rewards.

This event coincides with Pokémon GO's ninth anniversary in 2025, preceding other major events like Pokémon GO Tour: Unova (February 21st-23rd in Los Angeles and New Taipei City, and globally in March). The Lunar New Year event provides a chance to add new Pokémon to your collection before the Unova event.

The Pokémon GO Lunar New Year event runs from Wednesday, January 29th, 10:00 a.m. to Sunday, February 2nd, 8:00 p.m. local time. Niantic promises increased chances of obtaining Lucky Pokémon through trades and becoming Lucky Friends. Wild encounters will feature boosted rates for Ekans, Onix, Snivy, Darumaka, Dunsparce, Gyarados, and Dratini, with increased Shiny Pokémon odds. 2 km Eggs will hatch Makuhita, Nosepass, Meditite, Duskull, and Skorupi.
