Pokémon TCG Pocket launches its hotly-anticipated trading feature and Space-Time Smackdown

Author : Lucy Apr 13,2025

As we bid farewell to January and embrace the new year, fans of Pokémon TCG Pocket have a delightful reason to celebrate. Today marks the launch of the much-anticipated trading feature, coinciding with the release of the major new expansion, Space-Time Smackdown!

Let's dive into the trading mechanics first. Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket mimics real-life card trading, allowing you to swap cards with friends. However, there are some limitations to keep in mind: only cards of certain rarities (1-4 and 1-star) can be traded, and you'll need resources like trade hourglasses and trade tokens to make these exchanges. Despite these restrictions, it's a significant enhancement to the game.

Beyond trading, the Space-Time Smackdown expansion introduces iconic legendary Pokémon, Dialga and Palkia, to TCG Pocket. You'll also encounter the Sinnoh region starters, Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup, alongside a plethora of new cards to explore and collect!

However, not all feedback on the new trading feature has been warm. Some players have expressed dissatisfaction, likely due to the numerous restrictions and resource requirements. Personally, I believe that while the trading feature is a valuable addition, it might have been more well-received if it were less restrictive or if resources weren't necessary for trades. There's hope, though, as developers are reportedly monitoring the feature's reception and may introduce changes soon.
