Star Wars Celebration has unveiled our first glimpse of Rory McCann stepping into the role of Baylan Skoll for Season 2 of Ahsoka, succeeding the late Ray Stevenson. For those new to the series, McCann's casting follows Stevenson's untimely passing.
Though we're yet to see McCann portray Baylan, the Ahsoka panel at Star Wars Celebration offered a first-look image, which you can view below.
Ray Stevenson, celebrated for his roles in Thor, RRR, Punisher: War Zone, Rome, and more, tragically passed away due to a brief illness just three months before Ahsoka's premiere. Stevenson's performance as Baylan was widely considered a highlight of the series.
Ahsoka's creator, Dave Filoni, expressed that Stevenson's loss was one of the most significant hurdles in crafting Season 2, emphasizing that Ray was "the most beautiful person on screen and off."
During the panel, Filoni and the team also teased what fans can anticipate in Season 2, including the return of Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker, alongside characters like Admiral Ackbar, Zeb, Chopper, and others.
In our review of Ahsoka's debut season, we noted that the series "faced challenges in its opening episodes as it endeavored to bring viewers up to speed with characters and concepts from Dave Filoni's animated Star Wars series. However, once the narrative and cosmic plots were fully developed, Ahsoka struck a delightful balance of rich lore, humor, and epic battles, embodying the essence of classic Star Wars while charting a course towards new horizons."
