Fans of *The Last of Us* series are in for a treat as Season 2 on HBO will dive into some of the most intense and previously unseen content from *The Last of Us Part 2* video game. According to showrunner and Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann, the upcoming season will incorporate "pretty brutal" elements that were cut from the original game. These include the so-called Lost Levels, which were partially restored in the PlayStation 5 remaster of the game. Among these are early versions of three levels: Jackson Party, The Hunt, and Seattle Sewers. While Jackson Party and The Hunt offer a calmer atmosphere—with Ellie enjoying a social gathering and tracking a wounded boar, respectively—the Seattle Sewers level promises the gripping horror fans love, featuring Ellie being stalked by monsters in the dark tunnels of Seattle.

Druckmann has hinted that the inclusion of this cut content will keep viewers on the edge of their seats, describing it as "pretty brutal" but also expressing excitement for fans to experience it. Additionally, he teased the introduction of a "pretty prominent" character who was only mentioned in the game, drawing parallels to the approach taken with Frank in Season 1.
Season 2 will introduce a host of new characters, including Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel, among others. However, the role of Catherine O'Hara remains a mystery, adding an extra layer of intrigue for fans. With the premiere of Episode 1 scheduled for April, viewers won't have to wait long to see these new additions in action. Yet, some mysteries might linger longer as HBO plans to extend the narrative of *The Last of Us Part 2* beyond a single season, unlike Season 1 which covered the entire first game. Showrunner Craig Mazin has noted that the second game's expansive story will necessitate more than one season, and while Season 3 isn't confirmed yet, Season 2 has been structured with a "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes.
