Shovel Knight Mobile's Future Uncertain

Author : Gabriel Jan 10,2025

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon is leaving Netflix Games. Developer Yacht Club Games announced the news on Twitter, stating they are exploring other options for the title. The game will remain available on Steam, Switch, and PlayStation 4.

While this is disappointing for Netflix subscribers who played the game through the service, Yacht Club Games has indicated they are looking into further distribution avenues. A standalone mobile release is a possibility, though a firm timeline hasn't been announced.

This removal highlights a key risk of subscription gaming services: limited player ownership. When games are removed, players are reliant on the developer to make it available elsewhere. Yacht Club Games likely has options for future distribution, and a return in 2025 is possible.

For now, numerous other games are available. Check out our list of the top five new mobile games this week for some alternatives!
