Silksong Developer Reiterates Commitment to Original Switch
Following Silksong's surprise appearance at the Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, fans speculated that the game would bypass the current-generation hardware and focus solely on next-gen consoles. Originally announced in 2019 for PC and the original Switch, Silksong later confirmed releases for PlayStation and Xbox platforms.
In response to fans' concerns, Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Lead, Matthew Griffin, addressed the issue on Twitter (X) on April 8. Griffin reassured the community that Silksong remains committed to launching on both the original Switch and Switch 2. While no official details have been shared regarding version differences, players can anticipate enhanced visuals and performance on Switch 2 due to its upgraded capabilities.
Fresh Silksong Imagery Unveiled
Post-Nintendo Direct, new screenshots of Silksong surfaced on Nintendo Japan's official website. Although the settings depicted in these images were previously revealed in 2019, fans noted significant graphical enhancements compared to earlier presentations.
Despite the team's discretion regarding specifics, Silksong's presence in the Switch 2 Direct and the unveiling of these new images hint at an imminent release date announcement. Recently, updates to the game's Steam metadata have fueled speculation about its potential launch this year.
