Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia
The eagerly awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally offering fans a chance to experience it firsthand. This much-anticipated indie game will have a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). Unlike the earlier demo showcased at E3 in 2019, which served more as a "proof of concept," this new version promises to be a more comprehensive experience.
ACMI is hosting the Game Worlds exhibition from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. This event will spotlight a range of iconic games, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and Australia's very own Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with custom builds of these games, alongside viewing original design materials, concept art, and iconic game objects.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about featuring Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Since its announcement in 2019, updates about Silksong have been sparse, leaving fans hungry for any news on its release date and other details. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to quench this thirst by offering a deeper look into Silksong.
The co-curators revealed that the exhibit will explore the intricate world of Hollow Knight's sequel in depth. They shared, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the Australian event hints at a potential launch window for Silksong, no official release date has been announced. Recently, Silksong appeared briefly during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a 2025 release window. With the exhibit running until 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong will be released sometime in September 2025 or within the exhibit's duration.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Stay tuned to our articles for the latest updates on this eagerly awaited game!
