Ubisoft is steering Skull and Bones toward an exciting Year 2, promising to make it the most significant year yet for the pirate multiplayer game. The developer unveiled a treasure trove of new content during a special Year 2 showcase, featuring new modes, ships, the introduction of a Kraken, and the long-awaited addition of land combat.
The showcase, which premiered yesterday, highlighted Season 3: Guts and Glory as the season to introduce the much-anticipated land combat. Set to launch this fall, Season 3 will allow players to step off their ships and engage in swordfights and gun battles on land. This feature will be part of the Rogue Warlord additions, where players will explore sandy beaches and damp caves to rescue skilled Officers. A teaser video offered a glimpse of what to expect, but full details will be revealed later this year.
While land combat is the highlight of Year 2, Ubisoft has plenty more in store for Skull and Bones throughout 2025. Season 1: Ascent into Chaos, launching today, April 15, introduces a new item ascension feature to enhance loot, challenging World Tiers, a new Schooner medium ship, and the team-based Death Tides PvP mode. Season 2: Oaths of War, set for summer 2025, will bring Megaforts and the massive Frigate large ships. Finally, Season 4: Eye of the Beast, arriving this winter, will introduce the Kraken, the Hunter’s Guild, and the Corvette large ship.
If you're intrigued by these updates, you're in luck. Ubisoft is hosting a free weekend for Skull and Bones from April 17 to 21, giving players a chance to experience pirate PvP firsthand. Additionally, the game will be available at a discounted price during this period, though the exact discount has not been announced.
