The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we're talking about the iconic quartet of Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is gearing up for the much-anticipated Season 27, where it seems our favorite Colorado crew will be tackling, or perhaps just barely coping with, the current state of affairs.
The beloved animated series released a new trailer that initially tricked viewers into thinking they were in for a dramatic sneak peek at a new drama. With intense editing and suspenseful music setting an ominous tone, the trailer quickly subverted expectations when Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appeared on-screen. Randy, sitting with Shelley on her bed — a Wicked movie poster hanging in the background — casually asks if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you."
South Park Season 27 is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025. After the humorous gag, the trailer shifts back to showcasing intense action, hinting at several significant and topical plotlines for the upcoming season. Expect to see dramatic scenes like multiple plane crashes, the Statue of Liberty being toppled, a guest appearance by P. Diddy, and, unsurprisingly for fans, a potential war with Canada — a nod to the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut.
The teaser also confirms that Season 27 will debut on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. In the interim, the series has kept fans engaged with three specials: 2023's South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children), followed by 2024's South Park: The End of Obesity.
South Park celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, having first premiered on Comedy Central in 1997 to immediate critical and popular acclaim. As the show continues to push boundaries and reflect on contemporary issues, fans eagerly await what Season 27 has in store.
