Announced at the Marvel Games showcase during New York Comic Con, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to swing onto PC on January 30, 2025. This sequel, which captivated PlayStation 5 players in 2023, is now expanding its reach thanks to the successful PC ports of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.The PC version, developed and optimized by Nixxes Software in collaboration with Insomniac Games, PlayStation, and Marvel Games, promises a robust experience. Nixxes, renowned for porting PlayStation titles to PC, including the Horizon series and Ghost of Tsushima, is bringing their expertise to ensure a seamless transition.
"Bringing Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales to a new audience on PC together with Insomniac and Marvel Games has been a great experience for us at Nixxes," said Julian Huijbregts, Community Manager at Nixxes, in a PlayStation Blog post. Mike Fitzgerald, Core Technology Director at Insomniac Games, added that the PC port will feature ray-tracing, ultrawide monitor support, and various graphical options tailored for PC gamers.
For those eager to use a keyboard and mouse or take advantage of ultrawide monitors, this version is tailored to your needs. However, note that some PS5 DualSense controller features, such as adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, won't be available.
The PC release will include all content updates since the PS5 launch, including twelve new suits with Symbiote Suit styles, New Game+ mode, and "Ultimate Levels." Additional post-launch features like new time-of-day options, post-game achievements, and enhanced Photo Mode will also be available. Those opting for the Digital Deluxe Edition will enjoy even more exclusive content.
However, Insomniac Games has confirmed that no new story content will be added to the PC port, a decision that, while disappointing to some, aligns with the game's narrative closure.

A significant concern for the PC release is the requirement for a PlayStation Network (PSN) account, a trend that has become increasingly common with PlayStation PC ports. This requirement effectively locks out players from approximately 170 countries without PSN access, creating a barrier to entry.
This issue came to light with Helldivers 2, where Sony initially mandated a PSN account but later reversed the decision. However, the impact remains, as regions without PSN access are still unable to play. Other titles like God of War Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, the Until Dawn remake, and Ghost of Tsushima have also adopted this policy, even for single-player games, raising questions about the necessity of linking Steam accounts to PSN for non-multiplayer titles.
With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s PC release, all three Insomniac Spider-Man titles will be available on PC, marking a significant step in Sony's strategy to expand beyond PlayStation consoles. While there's room for improvement, particularly regarding the PSN requirement, Sony's efforts to bring their exclusive franchises to PC are commendable.
