Nintendo has announced the end of regular content updates for Splatoon 3. However, the game isn't entirely abandoned. Holiday events like Splatoween and Frosty Fest will continue, along with monthly challenges, weapon adjustments, and balance patches as needed.
The official Twitter (X) announcement stated: "After 2 INK-credible years of Splatoon 3, regular updates will come to a close. Don't worry! Splatoween, Frosty Fest, Spring Fest, and Summer Nights will continue with some returning themes! Updates for weapon adjustments will be released as needed. Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Monthly Challenges will continue for the time being."

Nintendo's closing message: "Thanks for holding down the Splatlands with us, it's been a blast!"Splatoon 3's two-year run has ended its active development phase, sparking renewed interest in a sequel. Rumors of Splatoon 4 development have intensified.
Some players believe they've uncovered clues – potential easter eggs or spoilers – within the Grand Festival event, suggesting a new city setting for a future Splatoon game. One fan commented on a metropolis-like location, speculating, "Doesn't look like Inkopolis. Perhaps the setting of Splatoon 4?" Others remain unconvinced, suggesting the location is merely a variation of Splatsville.
Although unconfirmed, rumors of Splatoon 4 development for the Switch have circulated for months. With the Grand Festival marking the final major Splatfest, many fans anticipate an imminent announcement.
Previous Splatoon Final Fests have influenced subsequent sequels. Splatoon 3's "Past, Present, or Future" theme could potentially hint at the direction of Splatoon 4. However, official confirmation from Nintendo is still awaited.
