Square Enix has put to rest any lingering doubts about the future of Kingdom Hearts 4 with a clear and enthusiastic update shared across their social media platforms. Accompanied by a series of captivating images, their message leaves no room for uncertainty: the much-anticipated sequel is still in the works.
Just a day ago, the company announced the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, a GPS-based action-RPG designed for mobile devices. However, they seized the moment to reassure the devoted Kingdom Hearts community that the team is diligently focused on crafting Kingdom Hearts 4.
"We’re currently working hard on Kingdom Hearts 4 and will continue pouring ourselves into the game’s development. We’re dedicated to making this an experience that lives up to your expectations!" the first of two posts declared. Alongside this message was a collage featuring various screenshots that offer fans a glimpse of the characters, cinematic scenes, combat sequences, platforming elements, and even a formidable giant enemy they can expect in the game.

The second post conveyed heartfelt gratitude and excitement, stating, "We’ve seen how excited you are, and we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts. We are equally excited and can’t wait to share more about Kingdom Hearts IV when the time is right. Until then, we appreciate your patience. Thank you for your continued support."
This update marks the first substantial news on the eagerly awaited sequel in months, following a tiny, cryptic tease for Kingdom Hearts 4 back in January. Despite its initial reveal in September 2022, complete with a cinematic trailer, Square Enix had maintained a low profile on the project—until now.
Tetsuya Nomura, the series director, has hinted that Kingdom Hearts 4 will bring the long-running saga, which spans 22 years and 18 games, closer to its narrative conclusion.
Regarding the cancellation of Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link, Square Enix expressed their apologies to fans eagerly awaiting its release. The decision to cancel stemmed from concerns that the game would not meet the quality and longevity expectations of players over time.
