Star Wars: Hunters is set to close its doors before reaching its first anniversary, yet it will still celebrate this milestone before the final shutdown. The question arises: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out? While some might see it as a bittersweet moment, others might find value in commemorating the time spent with the game and the community it fostered.
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are scheduled to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game just nine months after its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5, as it concludes on that date.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, has planned a final content update for April 15th, introducing Tuya, a new Support Hunter available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled, signaling the beginning of the end.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
The shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters may not come as a surprise to many. The game faced multiple delays since its announcement in 2020, with beta tests limited to SEA and ANZAC regions. The lack of major console support and a tepid reception contributed to its downfall. From a design perspective, the game missed an opportunity by not leveraging the iconic Star Wars characters, opting instead for generic original characters. This decision may have alienated fans who were expecting to see familiar faces from the Star Wars universe.
For those who uninstalled the game but wish to revisit it for a final farewell, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
