Former Bethesda Lead Designer Predicts a Stellar Sequel

Bruce Nesmith, a veteran Bethesda designer with credits on Skyrim and Oblivion, recently declared that Starfield 2, should it materialize, will be "one hell of a game." Having departed Bethesda in September 2021, Nesmith believes the groundwork laid by the original Starfield provides a solid foundation for a superior sequel. He points to the iterative improvements seen in the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind to Oblivion to Skyrim), suggesting that Starfield 2 can build upon its predecessor's strengths and address its shortcomings.

Nesmith highlighted the challenges of creating Starfield's novel systems and technology, emphasizing that the sequel will benefit from this established base. He anticipates Starfield 2 will incorporate player feedback and refine existing mechanics, potentially surpassing the original in significant ways.
