Stellar Blade's Festive Holiday Update: A Cozy Christmas in Xion

Stellar Blade is decking the halls (and Xion!) for the holidays with a festive update launching December 17th. This update brings new costumes, decorations, a mini-game, and a welcome new option for managing seasonal content.

New Holiday Outfits and Decorations

Get into the holiday spirit with brand-new Christmas-themed outfits for Eve, Adam, and even the drone! Eve's Santa dress is complemented by a Santa Girl hairstyle and festive accessories like Snow Crystal Glasses and Wreath Earrings. Adam gets a "I'm No Santa" outfit, and the drone sports a Rudolph Pack.

Xion itself undergoes a festive makeover, adorned with warm lights and red, green, and white decorations. Eve's camp and The Last Gulp share in the cheer, complete with new seasonal background music ("Dawn (Winter)" and "Take me away") to create a relaxing atmosphere.

A Festive Mini-Game

A new mini-game joins the holiday fun! While details are scarce, it involves targeting a holiday-themed drone for special rewards.

Control Your Seasonal Content

A significant addition is the ability to enable or disable seasonal events, including the Nier:Automata DLC, via the in-game settings (Gameplay > Seasonal Event Content). Options include:

  • Auto: Automatically enables or disables seasonal content based on the current season.
  • Disable: Deactivates seasonal content regardless of the season.
  • Enable: Activates seasonal content regardless of the season.

Note: Changing this setting requires a game restart from the most recent save.

Mixed Reception

The update has been largely well-received, with many fans embracing the "Christmas Eve" moniker for the protagonist. However, some players have expressed concerns about the frequency of event updates in a single-player game with a relatively short playtime (around 30 hours). The need to restart the game to fully experience seasonal content has also drawn criticism.
