Bring Large Dung Pods
Hirabami presents a formidable challenge in Monster Hunter Wilds. Unlike many monsters that prefer solitude, Hirabami thrives in groups, making the battle more complex. To manage this, equip yourself with Large Dung Pods. These can disperse the monsters, allowing you to tackle them individually and increase your chances of success.
Use Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger Ammo
Hirabami's tendency to float in the air can be particularly frustrating, especially for melee weapon users. Ranged weapon users, like those wielding a Bow, may find it easier to engage. To bring Hirabami down to earth, utilize Heavy Slicing Pod Slinger ammo, which you can fire from your Slinger. If you're out of this ammo, try severing Hirabami's tail; it will drop a Tail Claw Shard that can be converted into the necessary ammo.
Utilize Environmental Traps
The battlefield against Hirabami in Iceshard Cliffs is dotted with environmental traps that can give you an edge. You'll find Ice Spikes, Floating Rubble, and Brittle Ice Pillars. Dropping any of these on Hirabami can stun and inflict significant damage, turning the tide of the battle in your favor.
Aim for the Head
The head is the most vulnerable part of Hirabami, but reaching it can be tricky due to the monster's penchant for staying airborne. Ranged weapon users have a clear advantage here, while melee users should target the neck whenever Hirabami descends. Avoid attacking the torso, as it's heavily armored and less effective.
Watch the Tail
Hirabami's unpredictable movements make it a challenging foe. It often resorts to biting, spitting, and executing dive attacks from the sky. Keep moving to evade these attacks, but also be cautious of its tail, which it uses like a hammer. Staying alert to both the head and tail movements is crucial for survival.

How to Capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds
Screenshot by The Escapist
To capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds, you must first reduce its health to 20 percent or less. You'll know you're close when a skull icon appears next to the monster's icon on the mini-map. At this point, swiftly set up either a Pitfall Trap or a Shock Trap. Once Hirabami is ensnared, immediately use a Tranquilizer to knock it out. You have only a brief window to do this before the monster breaks free. Successfully capturing Hirabami will end the fight and grant you standard rewards, though it may limit your access to additional materials from breaking its weak spots.
That's all you need to know to conquer and capture Hirabami in Monster Hunter Wilds. Equip Large Dung Pods and consider using the SOS feature to simplify the battle.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
