(Sorry, Bonesaw fans, this time he's sitting this one out.) This season introduces thrilling new cards and locations. Let's dive in!
This season introduces "Activate," a game-changing card ability. Unlike "On Reveal," Activate lets you choose when to trigger a card's effect, offering strategic flexibility and avoiding "On Reveal" counters. The Season Pass card, Symbiote Spider-Man (4-Cost, 6-Power), boasts an Activate ability that absorbs the lowest-cost card at its location and copies its text. If the absorbed card has an "On Reveal" ability, it triggers again! Pairing him with Galactus promises chaotic fun. Expect this powerful card to be a prime candidate for potential nerfs.
Let's explore the other new cards:
- Silver Sable: (1-Cost, 1-Power) Her "On Reveal" ability steals two power from the top card of your opponent's deck. A solid card on its own, and even more potent in specific deck combinations.
- Madame Web: Her Ongoing ability lets you move one card at her location to a different location once per turn.
- Arana: (1-Cost, 1-Power) Another Activate card, she moves the next card you play to the right and boosts its power by +2. A likely staple in move-based decks.
- Scarlet Spider (Ben Reilly): (4-Cost, 5-Power) His Activate ability spawns an identical clone at another location. Amplify his power, then duplicate it!
Two new locations join the fray:
- Brooklyn Bridge: A classic Spider-Man location, with the twist that you can't place cards there on consecutive turns. Strategic placement is key!
- Otto's Lab: Similar to Otto Octavius himself, the next card played here pulls a card from your opponent's hand onto the location. Expect the unexpected!
