Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Mobile RPG Beta Test Announced
Netmarble's upcoming mobile RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, has unveiled a new gameplay trailer and details about its closed beta test. Set during the show's fourth season, this action-adventure game promises engaging combat and a rich narrative experience.
The closed beta, running January 16-22, 2025, in the US, Canada, and select European regions, offers fans an early look at the game before its full release later this year. Players can register via the game's official website.
Featuring class-based progression with "fully manual" controls, Kingsroad boasts impressive graphics and intense combat. The game introduces an original storyline centered around a new character, the heir to House Tyrell in the North. Popular characters like Jon Snow, Jaime Lannister, and even Drogon are confirmed to appear.
Announced in November 2024 and further highlighted at The Game Awards, Kingsroad leverages the rich lore and characters from George R.R. Martin's creation and the HBO series. Netmarble, known for titles like Marvel Future Fight and Ni no Kuni: Cross Worlds, promises "raw, aggressive, and destructive" combat.
The recently released trailer showcases the game's gameplay mechanics, including class choices like knight and assassin. The game's setting in the fourth season of the show, along with its original characters inspired by Wildlings, Dothraki, and the Faceless Men, promises a unique experience for fans.
The beta test provides a much-needed diversion for Game of Thrones fans eagerly awaiting the next book, The Winds of Winter. With delays in the manuscript's completion, Kingsroad, alongside other projects like A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon season 3, offers a compelling interim experience.
