In Avowed, upgrading your weaponry is crucial for survival. Early game encounters feature mostly Common (Level I) weapons and enemies. However, as the difficulty increases to Level II, you'll need Fine (Tier II) gear. This guide details how to acquire and upgrade to Tier II/Fine weapons and armor.
Upgrading Weapons and Armor:
Gear in Avowed has a Quality rating (I, II, etc.), indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman numeral. Common (I) gear is green, while Fine (II) gear is blue. Each Quality level has three sub-levels (+1 to +3).
To upgrade from Common (I) to Fine (II), you must utilize workbenches located at Party Camps. Each sub-level (+1 to +3) requires specific materials. After reaching +3, you can upgrade to Fine (II) using Adra, a rare crystal obtained through quests, merchant purchases, or by dismantling Unique gear.
Finding and Purchasing Fine (II) Weapons and Armor:
While upgrading is effective, it's resource-intensive. Alternatively, you can find Fine (II) weapons and armor:
- Dawnshore: Rarely spawns on Level II enemies.
- Bounties: Defeating Level II Bounty targets often yields Fine gear. Note that Common gear is significantly less effective against Level II enemies.
- Paradis Merchants: After completing the early Main Quest (defeating the Dreamscourge bear), access Paradis. Two sisters operate nearby the Bounty Board; one sells magical Fine items (Merlylin), and the other sells standard weapons and armor (pictured above).
This covers the primary methods for obtaining Fine weapons and armor in Avowed. Remember to stock up on health potions when facing higher-level enemies.
