Top 22 Horror Games on PlayStation Plus Ranked

In 2022, Sony transformed PlayStation Plus, ushering in a new era for the service. Today, players can choose from three tiers: Essential, Extra, or Premium. If you're eager to dive into online multiplayer modes for most games, you'll need to subscribe to at least PS Plus Essential. This tier not only grants you access to these multiplayer features but also treats you to a selection of free games each month. However, for fans of horror games, the Essential tier might not be enough; you'll want to explore the Extra and Premium tiers for a truly chilling experience.

The Extra tier opens up a vast library of hundreds of PS5 and PS4 titles, with Sony adding around 15 new games each month to keep the collection fresh and exciting. Stepping up to the Premium level not only includes all the games from the Extra tier but also adds a nostalgic touch with access to hundreds of classic games from PS3, PS2, PS1, and PSP. Sony ensures that its service covers a wide range of genres, meaning there are plenty of horror games to choose from, many of which rank among the best on the platform.

Updated January 5, 2025 by Mark Sammut: Unfortunately, the December 2024 PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup did not feature any new horror games, leaving fans to rely on the existing selection. Additionally, horror enthusiasts should note that Resident Evil 2 will be departing from the service on January 21, 2025. Given its short campaign, there's still time to experience at least one playthrough before it's gone. On the brighter side, Resident Evil 3 will continue to be available.

Due to the lack of new horror titles added in the recent lineup, a new section has been created to highlight other PS Plus games that might appeal to horror fans.
