Warner Bros. has abandoned an unannounced paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy, Bloomberg reports.
According to Bloomberg's sources, Warner Bros. had been developing a paid story expansion for its Harry Potter adventure game, Hogwarts Legacy, set for release this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the title.
This week, however, Warner Bros. shelved the DLC, citing concerns that "the content volume didn’t justify the planned price," per Bloomberg. The company declined to comment on the report.
Warner Bros. has been overhauling its gaming division amid persistent financial challenges. Earlier this year, it canceled a Wonder Woman game and shut down Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and Player First Games, the studio behind MultiVersus. Layoffs also hit Rocksteady in September.
Despite the DLC cancellation, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise as key assets, noting that a sequel to the game, which has sold over 30 million copies, remains a top priority as the company shifts focus to fewer, larger franchises.
