Wingspan's Asia Expansion: A Flight of New Birds and Game Modes
The popular strategy video game, Wingspan, is preparing for a significant expansion: the Asia Expansion, launching later this year. While the exact release date remains undisclosed, players can anticipate a wealth of new content, including captivating avian additions, a fresh game mode, and breathtaking Asian landscapes.
Here's a closer look at the Wingspan Asia Expansion:
The expansion introduces a stunning array of new bird species from across Asia, each boasting unique abilities and intriguing facts. Expect to encounter new feathered friends from India, China, and Japan.
Further enriching the gameplay are 13 new bonus cards, with two specifically designed for the Automa mode, enhancing the solo experience. Four new, visually stunning game backgrounds, inspired by diverse Asian landscapes, add to the immersive atmosphere. Eight new player portraits, reflecting local cultural influences, complete the thematic immersion.
A highly anticipated addition is the Duet Mode, offering an intense head-to-head Wingspan experience. Players will compete on a dedicated Duet Map, vying for habitat spaces and striving to achieve distinct end-of-round objectives.
The expansion also includes audio enhancements, featuring four new relaxing musical tracks composed by Paweł Górniak, perfectly complementing the bird-watching and strategic gameplay.

Based on Elizabeth Hargrave's acclaimed card-based board game, the digital Wingspan adaptation debuted on PC in 2020, followed by mobile releases in 2021. The game challenges players to attract diverse birds to their wildlife preserve, strategically forming powerful combinations. With limited turns, players must carefully manage food, egg-laying, and card draws, mirroring the behaviors of real-world birds – hawks hunting, pelicans fishing, and geese flocking.
While awaiting the Asia Expansion, players can explore the European and Oceania expansions available on the Google Play Store.
