The Witcher Saga Continues: Ciri Takes Center Stage in Witcher 4
Nearly a decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3 captivated gamers, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for The Witcher 4, shifting the spotlight to Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter. With Geralt's trilogy concluded, the younger generation steps into the limelight.
The trailer depicts Ciri intervening in a village gripped by a superstitious ritual, poised to sacrifice a young woman to a monster. Ciri's intervention reveals a far more complex situation than initially perceived, setting the stage for a thrilling new adventure.
While no official release date has been announced, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year window seems plausible, given the early stages of production.
Platform exclusivity remains unconfirmed. However, given the anticipated release timeframe, a current-gen-only release (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is likely. While a Switch port was possible for Witcher 3, it seems less feasible for this iteration, though a potential Switch 2 release remains a possibility.
Gameplay details are scarce, but the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements: potions, Signs, and perhaps a new addition – Ciri's chain, used for both combat and magic. Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence, albeit in a supporting role, potentially as a mentor figure.
