Xbox's Multi-Platform Push Expands: Halo and Flight Simulator Rumored for PS5 and Switch 2
A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests a significant expansion of Microsoft's multi-platform strategy. The report claims that Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 are in development for both the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, with potential releases slated for 2025.
This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to bring first-party titles to other consoles. Games like Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves have already made the jump, along with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (October 2024) and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (Spring 2025).
NateTheHate's report indicates that Halo: The Master Chief Collection, a compilation of six Halo games, is being ported to both PS5 and Switch 2. Similarly, Microsoft Flight Simulator, likely referring to the recently released MFS 2024, is also rumored for a multi-platform release in 2025.
This information is further supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that "way more" Xbox games will be arriving on PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025. Corden has consistently voiced his belief that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is concluding.
The future of Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms is also noteworthy. Microsoft's ten-year agreement to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles, announced in late 2022, is likely awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2 to fully realize its potential. The Switch 2's enhanced capabilities are better suited for the demanding visuals of modern Call of Duty titles.
