Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, alleviating concerns among fans. Previously, there was uncertainty due to a disclaimer on Nintendo's website for the Switch 2 edition of the game, which stated that it did not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature. However, Nintendo has since updated this information.
The revised disclaimer now reads: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This clarification indicates that players can transfer their existing Switch 1 saves to the Switch 2, but not vice versa. This policy is also reflected on the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.
In contrast, the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, leaving its status unclear.
This update should reassure Switch 2 owners about the continuity of their gaming experience. Meanwhile, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have begun, maintaining a price point of $449.99.
