In 2025, World of Warcraft enthusiasts can look forward to the much-anticipated introduction of a housing system, as Blizzard has begun unveiling the initial details. The developers have assured that homes will be accessible to all players, free from complex prerequisites, exorbitant costs, or lottery systems. Moreover, these homes will remain secure even if a player's subscription lapses. The comprehensive rollout of this housing feature is slated for the Midnight expansion.
Upon launch, players will have the opportunity to select their plot in one of two designated zones: for the Alliance, in Elwynn Forest, which will incorporate elements from Westfall and Duskwood, or for the Horde, in Durotar, featuring elements from Azshara and the Durotar coastline.
Each zone will be segmented into districts, with each district hosting approximately 50 houses. Players can opt to settle in an open area or form a private community with friends and guildmates. Blizzard promises an extensive range of decoration options for personalization, with the majority available in-game, and select items offered in the shop.
The core of the housing system is built on three foundational principles: extensive customization, fostering social interaction, and ensuring longevity. Blizzard plans to release more details about the housing system in the future and encourages players to share their feedback and ideas in the meantime.
