Bloodlines 2 Devs Delve into Gameplay

This new Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 dev diary showcases thrilling gameplay footage, focusing on the mechanics of vampire hunting and maintaining the Masquerade.

In the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, vampires must conceal their true nature from humans. Bloodlines 2 incorporates this with a Masquerade meter, visually represented by an eye icon at the top of the screen. This meter tracks actions that violate the Masquerade, with three escalating levels of severity:

  • Green: Minor infraction; simply hiding will suffice.
  • Yellow: Multiple violations, such as feeding or using aggressive powers, have occurred. Players must manage witnesses or evade police attention.
  • Red: The Masquerade is shattered, and the police are in pursuit. Escape and concealment are paramount, as the Camarilla will intervene once the meter fills completely. (See the included gameplay clip for an example.)

To mitigate their "infamy," players can employ various strategies: erase witness memories, eliminate witnesses, or, if the police are involved, simply hide until the situation cools down.

The developers emphasize that the risk of exposure escalates throughout the game, demanding swift and decisive actions from players to uphold the Masquerade.
