Bloodmoon Island, a mysterious region located in the north of Reaper's Coast, is shrouded in intrigue and danger. The island is isolated from the mainland by a deadly veil of Deathfog, and the only bridge that once connected it to the coast is now destroyed. This makes reaching Bloodmoon Island a challenging yet essential part of the game, as it deepens the main plot and unlocks additional side quests.
Navigating to Bloodmoon Island can be tricky, as the game offers limited guidance on how to bypass the Deathfog. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to reach Bloodmoon Island and advance the story in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Bloodmoon Island was once accessible via a bridge from Reaper's Coast, located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the locations of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To proceed, cast Spirit Vision to reveal the broken sections of the bridge, which is segmented and partially trapped, adding to the challenge of crossing.
To successfully navigate this spirit bridge, consider the following methods:
Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired in the first act, these gloves allow you to teleport without learning the skill. Use them to move each companion across the bridge, albeit tediously.
Translocation Skills: Skills like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation, which is crucial for crossing the broken bridge. However, not all party members may possess these skills, so plan accordingly.
Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between pyramids. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once on the other side, the rest of the party can warp to them.
Fast Travel: If a companion with translocation skills crosses the bridge and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there without needing to cross the bridge.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
For parties including Fane, an undead character immune to Deathfog, there's an alternative route. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers to transport your party across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer; all but Fane will perish during the crossing. If Fane takes the ferry alone, he'll reach the island safely, allowing him to discover the waypoint and enable the rest of the party to fast travel there.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
If your party doesn't include Fane but you still want to use the ferry, you'll need at least two Teleporter Pyramids:
- Unchain the party and place a Teleporter Pyramid in the inventory of the companion taking the ferry.
- After the ferry ride, the companion will die on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- Use the second pyramid to warp the rest of the party to the dead companion.
- Revive the companion with a resurrection spell or scroll.
For parties without Fane, taking the bridge is the safest and quickest way to reach Bloodmoon Island.
Be cautious not to attack the Undead Ferryman, as he can retaliate with a Deathfog spell, causing instant death. If you decide to engage him, quick save first. Defeating him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750XP.
