Fortnite Backtracks Controversial Skin Decision

The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this joyous reunion was briefly marred by a controversy.

The original release of the Master Chief skin included a special Matte Black style, exclusively awarded to players on Xbox Series S|X consoles. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised this style as perpetually obtainable. Therefore, the unexpected announcement of its removal was met with significant backlash.

Some players even believed this action violated legal regulations and began preparations for a class-action lawsuit. Remarkably, Epic Games reversed its decision within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single match on an Xbox Series S|X console.

This reversal appears to be the most prudent course of action. Given the holiday season and the festive spirit of Christmas, such a controversial move risked significantly souring the experience for many players.
