Marvel Rivals Unveils Season 1: New Mode, Maps, Pass

Marvel Rivals Season 1: Eternal Night Falls – New Heroes, Maps, and Game Mode Detailed

Marvel Rivals Season 1, "Eternal Night Falls," launching January 10th at 1 AM PST, brings significant updates including new characters, maps, a fresh game mode, and a revamped battle pass. NetEase Games unveiled these details in a recent developer video blog.

The season kicks off with the arrival of Mister Fantastic (Duelist) and The Invisible Woman (Strategist) from the Fantastic Four. Expect The Thing and Human Torch to join the roster approximately six to seven weeks into the season. The Baxter Building will feature prominently in a new map. The season is planned to run for approximately three months.

Season 1 introduces a new arcade-style game mode, "Doom Match," supporting 8-12 players battling across maps like the newly revealed Empire of the Eternal Night: Sanctum Sanctorum. The top 50% of players are declared victorious.

The new battle pass offers 10 new skins and costs 990 Lattice, but players earn back 600 Lattice and 600 Units upon completion.

Three new maps are confirmed:

  • Empire of the Eternal Night: Sanctum Sanctorum (Doom Match)
  • Empire of the Eternal Night: Midtown (Convoy Missions)
  • Empire of the Eternal Night: Central Park (Details to be revealed later in Season 1) Central Park will launch approximately six or seven weeks into the season.

NetEase Games emphasized the importance of community feedback, acknowledging concerns about character balance (e.g., Hawkeye's ranged advantage) and promising balance adjustments during the first half of Season 1. While rumors of a PvE mode circulate, the developers did not address them in this announcement. The excitement surrounding these reveals is palpable amongst Marvel Rivals fans.
