Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Fallout 76's latest update introduces an exhilarating opportunity for players to roam Appalachia as a Ghoul. Announced by Bethesda on March 18, Season 20, dubbed "The Ghoul Within," is now live, bringing a host of ghoul-centric features, mechanics, and fresh cosmetic options to revamp your C.A.M.P.
In this update, players can embrace Ghoulification through the "Leap of Faith" questline, which leads them to a new area in the Savage Divide. Here, you'll encounter unique characters who assist in your transformation. As a Ghoul, you'll unlock exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with access to 30 new Ghoul-specific Perks.
The Feral ability revolutionizes gameplay by replacing traditional hunger and thirst stats with boosts that vary based on the Feral meter's level. At 0%, players experience dramatic changes: "+150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy."
On the other hand, the Glow ability lets players consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and even causing them to emit a glow. This ability not only boosts maximum health and heals damage but also enhances Ghoul-exclusive Perks, known as "Gherks."
With 28 perks to choose from and 2 new legendary perks tailored for Ghouls, players will find plenty of ways to customize their experience. Note that Ghouls cannot access perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance, as these are unnecessary for their new form.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the radiation-saturated wasteland becomes more manageable as a Ghoul, thanks to the enhanced abilities and Gherks. However, factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may view Ghouls with hostility, potentially locking you out of certain quests.
Luckily, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that allow you to access content restricted to Ghouls. If the Ghoul life isn't for you, you can revert to human form via the Character Screen, though this is a one-way decision. To become a Ghoul again, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation on the Character Screen for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
Whether you're a newcomer or a veteran of Appalachia, the Level 50 Character Boost is your ticket to jumpstart your adventure. Available for 1500 Atoms with the Season 20 update, this boost equips players with various enhancements and perks, allowing immediate access to multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and select story content.
The update also includes essential bug fixes and balance adjustments, such as accessibility improvements, combat balancing, and weapon damage tweaks. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, scheduled for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome initial challenges with bugs and issues, now boasting a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
