Helldivers 2 has launched a significant update, unveiling new Illuminate enemies, weapon customization options, and Superstore enhancements. Patch 01.003.000 is now available on PC and PlayStation 5.
After hints from developer Arrowhead, Helldivers 2 faces a fresh assault from the Illuminate alien faction. Detailed on the PlayStation Blog, new adversaries include the Stingray, aerial jetfighters that support Illuminate forces by targeting Helldivers and executing powerful strafing runs, and the Crescent Overseer, capable of unleashing barrages on Helldivers in cover. The Fleshmob, a failed Illuminate experiment, is a monstrous blend of Voteless parts, forming a brutal force that challenges players to defeat it.
Attention, Helldivers: This is a Galactic Emergency.

The true Illuminate invasion has begun. In a sudden and completely unprovoked offensive manoeuvre, the full Illuminate fleet is emerging from the Meridia Singularity. Nothing is safe - not even the Heart of Democracy itself. pic.twitter.com/2hgtK6akMb
Arrowhead hinted at sightings of larger, unidentified ships, with their capabilities still shrouded in mystery, suggesting more discoveries await players in-game.

For the first time, Helldivers 2 introduces weapon customization and progression. Most primary weapons now have levels unlocked through mission completions, granting access to new attachments via Requisition. Players can also unlock unique weapon patterns.
Here’s the official description:
Customize your arsenal with precision sights, color patterns, expanded magazines for ammo capacity, muzzles to enhance performance, or under-barrel attachments for tailored handling. This personalization ensures your primary weapon excels in its class.

Arrowhead has released a collection of patterns inspired by the Viper Commandos, Freedom's Flame, Chemical Agents, and Truth Enforcers Warbonds. These patterns become available starting May 15 with the Masters of Ceremony Warbond launch.

The Superstore has been overhauled, ensuring desired items are always accessible, eliminating the wait for items to cycle back into rotation.
Beyond new features, patch 01.003.000 includes a comprehensive balance update, adjusting spread, drag, sway, melee weapon stamina costs, shrapnel spawning, and fire damage.
