In a recent interview with Kinda Funny Games, Insomniac Games' founder and outgoing president, Ted Price, shared insights into his career and the projects that never saw the light of day. As he prepares to retire after an impressive 30-year tenure at the helm of the studio, Price revealed that one of his favorite unmade games was "Resistance 4."
Price expressed that the team at Insomniac was highly passionate about extending the Resistance series, which is known for its alternate history setting where aliens, known as the Chimera, invade the UK in 1951. He noted, "We did pitch that one, and it was a wonderful concept, but in terms of timing and market opportunity, it didn’t work out." The Resistance series, consisting of three first-person shooter games for the PlayStation 3, has always been cherished for its unique narrative and world-building.
Despite the enthusiasm and potential for further exploring the Chimera's origins and the alternate history, Resistance 4 did not receive the green light. Insomniac Games has since moved on to other successful projects, including the critically acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man series and new iterations of Ratchet and Clank.
As Price steps away from Insomniac, he leaves the studio in the capable hands of Chad Dezern, Ryan Schneider, and Jen Huang, who will serve as Co-Studio Heads. Insomniac's most recent release, Marvel's Spider-Man 2, has just made its way to PC, and the studio is already gearing up for its next big project, Marvel's Wolverine.
