Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's phenomenal success continues, surpassing 2 million copies sold in under two weeks!
Warhorse Studios, the developer, celebrated this milestone as a "triumph," echoing their earlier reaction to the game's 1 million sales within a single day of its release.
This remarkable achievement for the medieval RPG sequel, launched February 4th on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, is truly impressive.
Embracer Group, Warhorse Studios' parent company, highlighted the game's exceptional performance, particularly on Steam, where it boasted over 250,000 peak concurrent players—significantly exceeding the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance's peak of 96,069 seven years prior. The actual peak player count is undoubtedly higher, considering console sales, though precise figures remain undisclosed by Sony and Microsoft.
Embracer lauded Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's strong reception from both players and critics, emphasizing its financial success. CEO Lars Wingefors attributed this to the dedication of Warhorse Studios and publisher Deep Silver, projecting sustained revenue generation over the coming years. He cited the game's high quality, immersive gameplay, and broad appeal as key factors. A robust roadmap, including updates and new content throughout the next year, promises continued engagement for the player community.
Wingefors expressed immense pride in the teams behind the game's success, exceeding initial expectations.
The post-launch roadmap includes three expansions slated for 2025. Free updates in Spring will introduce features like a Barber shop for character customization, Hardcore Mode, and Horse Racing. Summer will see the release of the first paid DLC, "Brushes with Death," focusing on protagonist Henry's assistance to a mysterious artist. Autumn brings "Legacy of the Forge," exploring Henry's adoptive father's history, and Winter concludes with "Mysteria Ecclesia," a covert mission within the Sedlec Monastery.
