Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic game. The first game drop of the year, dubbed "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25 and promises to breathe new life into the Overworld. This update introduces diverse variants for cows, pigs, and chickens, enhancing the vibrancy of biomes. Additionally, players can look forward to new ambient features like the glittering firefly bush, falling leaves, and the soothing whispers of sand, all designed to make the game world feel more immersive and alive.
The second game drop, though yet to be named, will introduce the innovative Dried Ghast block. This block, slightly smaller than a regular block with cute tentacles and a grumpy face, can be rehydrated to transform into a Ghastling. This adorable baby ghast variant will float around the Overworld like a balloon and can evolve into a Happy Ghast when fed snowballs. The Happy Ghast can be harnessed to fly, carrying up to four players at once, offering a new way to explore the skies of Minecraft. Mojang highlighted that the Happy Ghast could be particularly useful for builders in Survival Mode, providing a taste of Creative Mode freedom within the survival context.
Mojang also announced a major visual upgrade for Minecraft titled "Vibrant Visuals." This upgrade aims to transform the visual experience of the game without altering gameplay mechanics. For more detailed insights, check out IGN's dedicated article on the Vibrant Visuals upgrade and their visuals comparison video.
In addition to game updates, Mojang shared a new clip for the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. This event will take place in Midport Village from March 25 to April 7, where players can join Steve and his movie companions in a dynamic multiplayer experience. Participants will defend the village from piglin attacks through three engaging mini-games, with the chance to earn the exclusive Yearn cape by completing all challenges.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, the developer shared their stance on several key issues: they will not be developing a Minecraft 2, nor will they transition the game to a free-to-play model or utilize generative AI in its development.
