Minecraft stands out not just as a great game, but as an exceptionally moddable one. If you're like us and have figured out how to run Java Edition on your Android device, you're in for a treat—or perhaps a fright. A new horror mod, In Your World, created by the seasoned modder EBALIA, might just be the scariest Minecraft mod yet when fully developed.
EBALIA, the mastermind behind the chilling mod The Silence, introduces In Your World, which aims to unsettle you in a more insidious, psyche-eroding manner than typical horror mods.
We’re Not In A Dweller Mod Anymore
If you're a fan of horror mods, you might be familiar with the likes of the Cave Dweller and its numerous iterations. These mods typically feature a monster that stalks and disrupts your exploration, providing jump scares but not necessarily a deep sense of unease.
In Your World, accessible to both free and paid members of EBALIA’s Patreon, takes a different approach. It doesn't rely on monsters lurking in dark caves or dense fog, nor does it feature characters like Jeff The Killer. Instead, it crafts a Minecraft world where you're subtly made to feel you're not quite alone.
Feeling Seen
The first sign that something is amiss is often an Achievement notification popping up at the bottom of your screen, ominously reading 'I See You.'
You might then hear the unsettling sound of footsteps nearby. Strange, inexplicable geometric structures and columns start appearing in the world. Occasionally, you'll spot a figure standing atop these structures, seemingly watching you.
If you're particularly unfortunate, you might stumble upon a full building made of cobblestone somewhere on the map. We advise against entering it. Without giving too much away, things escalate from there.
Currently in demo form, In Your World has already left us deeply unsettled and eager to see its full potential. It's a horror experience that slowly builds paranoia, making nowhere feel safe—a far more disturbing experience than any screaming monster.
